Open Design Alliance (ODA) is moving its annual CAD development conference to the Web. ODA DevCon 2020 Virtual Edition will be September 8, 9 and 10. The conference usually meets in a European city in September.
ODA says DevCon will bring together developers from all sectors of the engineering software market to discuss the latest industry trends, best practices for CAD and BIM application development, and the newest ODA technologies. The conference features guest speakers from buildingSMART International (bSI), Microsoft, Google, and Open Geospatial Consortium.
ODA DevCon 2020 will focus on three themes:
- BIM. Innovative BIM technologies including new support for IFC 4×3 in ODA IFC SDK, toolkits for proprietary BIM data, and updates from industry partners.
- DWG. Latest advancements in ODA’s industry-standard DWG technology, including Model Documentation and native DWG version history.
- ODA Technology Stack. ODA solutions for visualization, cloud development, publishing, and facet and solid modeling. Cloud apps that integrate BIM with IoT (Internet of Things), and a new integration for expanded MCAD format support.
The conference includes member presentations from industry leaders that showcase the use of ODA technologies in real-world applications.
“DevCon is a vendor-neutral event, so it provides broad and unbiased insights into the CAD and BIM industries,” said Neil Peterson, ODA President. “In what’s looking to be a down year economically for most companies, there will be special focus this year on the value offered by ODA solutions, particularly in the areas of IFC, 3D visualization and cloud development.”
ODA DevCon 2020 is a virtual event that is free to ODA members and to the general public. More information and registration information can be found at conference.opendesign.com.
